The Symposium will be held at the
Grand Hotel Toplice located on the shores of Bled Lake
and close to the center of Bled. All major hotels, shops, restaurants
are in a walking distance from the hotel.
How to get there?
Bled is easily accessible by all means of transportation.
By plane
Ljubljana International airport, situated 30 km of the
city at Brnik, is connected with most major European cities
and airports. From Ljubljana Airport (Brnik) various
possibilities are available: by hotel transfer, taxi or bus
(change of buses in Kranj). Transfers from Ljubljana airport
will be available for up to EUR 50 per person.
By car
From the North (Villach) take the Karavanke tunnel or drive
over the Koren/Wurzen pass and continue to Bled via Jesenice
From the East and South drive to Ljubljana and continue toward
Bled.
From the West drive to Tarviso and continue to Bled via Jesenice.
By bus
From Ljubljana.
By train
The nearest railway station (Lesce-Bled), accessible from
all directions, is located 3 km from Bled.
Local Information
Entry requirements
Most foreigners need only a valid passport for entry into
Slovenia. Citizens of EU countries and several other
countries can enter Slovenia on a valid personal identity
card. An entry visa is required for citizens of some
countries. Participants
should contact the nearest Slovenian Embassy or Consulate -
for addresses please visit their website www.sigov.si/mzz.
A Letter of Invitation can be
obtained from the organizer upon request. We suggest to
start the visa procedure well in advance.
Insurance
Participants should contract their own travel insurance
to cover medical expenses and all other risks. The organiser
will not be held liable for damage or loss of luggage or
personal belongings, for injury or for loss or damage of any
nature caused to participants or accompanying persons.
Currency
The Slovene currency is the Slovene Tolar (SIT). 1 EUR is
approximately 240 SIT (September, 2004). Unlimited
amounts of foreign currency in cash, cheques etc, may be
brought into the country and need not be declared on
entry. Foreign currency may be exchanged at banks, exchange
offices, travel agencies, hotels, the airport, and railway
stations. Automatic teller machines are located in the
city centre.
Electricity
Voltage: 220V, 50 Hz. Sockets take a 2 round-pin plug.
Appliances designed to operate on 110/120V need a voltage
converter and plug adapter.

Climate and clothing
In September the weather in Bled is generally pleasant,
with an average daytime temperature of 15oC,
varying from 10 to 25oC. The average temperature
of the lake in September is 19oC. Clothing
suitable for Central European seasons is recommended; an
overcoat is recommended for cooler evenings.
Credit Cards
All major credit cards, such as MasterCard-Eurocard,
Visa, American Express, etc,.. are accepted in most hotels,
restaurants and shops.
