The tape includes the highlights of the 2-1/2 hour question-and-answer meeting

which took place on November 4, 1988 with a panel of 11 nuclear industry experts

who discussed the lessons learned from the nuclear accident at Three Mile Island

(TMI) in 1979. The major points addressed were: core melt, survival of reactor's

lower head, filtered vents, design considerations for future reactors, recovery and

cleanup from the accident, the use of robotics in hazardous environments,

regulatory and licensing issues, perceptions of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory

Commission as a result of the accident, and the future of nuclear plants.
