Radioactivity
Radioactivity is part of
our environment. Human beings are exposed to natural radiation from
cosmic rays, radioactive substances in soil, construction materials
and from substances, which we digest with food and drinks.
Nuclear
Energy
We've been using energy
of nuclear fission from the mid of the twentieth century. People were very
enthusiastic about its use at the beginning, because it was a promising solution
to many problems. Nuclear power plants and nuclear
powered ships were constructed, nuclear airplanes were designed and
even space ships and nuclear trains were envisioned. The excitement
was loosing momentum over the years. It has even turned into the
opposite direction after several nuclear accidents
Today the complexity of
nuclear technology and first of all the fear from its possible
severe consequences to the individuals is generating concern and
resistance. Much too often we tend to forget benefits that these technologies
contribute to our life style.
We, nuclear experts, like to explain to everyone basic facts about nuclear technologies
so that everyone can make his/her own opinion.
